BOZELL BLASTS CBS EVENING NEWS FOR SPIKING CBS POLL FAVORABLE TO BUSH

"FOX News Has Run The CBS Poll More Than The CBS Evening News Has. That's Pretty Pathetic"

ALEXANDRIA, Va. --- Media Research Center Chairman Brent Bozell today blasted CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather and White House Correspondent John Roberts for spiking their network's own poll. The poll was taken following President Bush's budget speech Tuesday night and showed favorable findings regarding President Bush's speech and his tax cut plan.

"The CBS News poll showing 88 percent of Americans who heard Bush's speech approved of his proposals, and 67 percent supported the Bush tax cut, has never aired on the CBS Evening News. Instead, White House Correspondent John Roberts has reported information from other polls less favorable to Bush. This is not journalism. This is using the network television airwaves to oppose President Bush," Bozell said.

While the CBS Evening News has not aired its own poll, FOX News has aired the CBS findings at least twice, as anchor Brit Hume reported Thursday night on FOX's Special Report with Brit Hume.

"FOX News has run the CBS poll more than the CBS Evening News has. Even for Dan Rather that's pretty pathetic," Bozell said.
