MEDIA RESEARCH CENTER BLASTS BBC’S BAN ON “TERRORISM”
ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- On November 15, a
London newspaper reported that BBC Deputy News Director Mark Damazer
ordered his reporters to refrain from using the word terrorism
when referring to the September 11th attacks in New York and Washington
DC.
In response Brent Bozell, President of
the Media Research Center,
issued a letter to all network executives asking them to refrain from
commerce with the BBC so long as the broadcast company skews it news
coverage to cater to a fraction of the public that supports terrorism.
“If the killing of 5,000 innocent
American citizens isn’t terrorism, then nothing is. By refusing to
call these attacks ‘terrorism,’ the BBC is undermining its desire
for accuracy and instead trimming the truth so as to not offend
terrorists, in the interest of journalistic integrity American networks
should sever their relationships with the BBC,” said Bozell.
