EXPO$É: NEW YORK TIME$, TIME, CB$, NBC AND DI$NEY DONATE DOLLAR$ TO PEOPLE FOR THE AMERICAN WAY

Bozell: “Perhaps It’s Past Time That We Stopped Calling These Entities ‘News’ Organizations And Called Them What They Really Are: Liberal Propaganda Machines”

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Media Research Center President Brent Bozell blasted several of the largest media companies in America today for their open financial support of People for the American Way, an ultra-left wing Washington special interest group – a group these organizations cover on a regular basis. An exposé published by National Review Online reveals the New York Times, Time, Inc., CBS, NBC and Disney (the parent company of ABC), all purchased tables – at $500 to $600 per seat – at the group’s annual fundraising dinners in New York City.

“Perhaps it’s past time that we stopped calling these entities ‘news’ organizations and called them what they really are: liberal propaganda machines,” Bozell said.

The findings are listed in People for the American Way’s annual reports. For years, the group has viciously attacked conservatives and Republicans – especially during congressional hearings for nominees to the federal bench. Such events are covered closely by all of these organizations.

“Any news organization surrenders its claim to objectivity when it contributes financially to a group or an individual that it covers in news stories,” Bozell said. “Whether it’s Dan Rather headlining a Democratic Party fundraiser in Texas, or the New York Times purchasing tables at a People for the American Way fundraiser in New York, it is obvious that these people are activists first, journalists second.”
