Statement From MRC President Brent Bozell Reacting To The
New York Times’ Request For An Anti-Delay Oped
ALEXANDRIA, Va. ---
Media Research Center (MRC) President Brent Bozell issued the following statement in reaction to the reports that the
New York Times requested former Congressman Robert Livingston write an op-ed advising House Majority Leader Tom Delay to step aside for the betterment of the Republican Party:
“This case makes the political agenda of the
New York Times perfectly clear. They want to destroy Tom DeLay, period. What liberals could not do at the ballot box, they are trying to do through the ‘news’ media. These actions prove how the media are actively demonizing DeLay. It has nothing to do with the search for truth. The
New York Times has indicted and convicted DeLay already. Now they’re trying to execute him politically,” Bozell said.
“The New York Times has coyly revealed its partisanship by trying to put words in a writer’s mouth. Before the war in 2003, the
Wall Street Journal asked European leaders to support Bush’s plan to go to war. Liberals were outraged. It was assumed by liberals that the
Journal was acting at the behest of the administration. Where are they now?” Bozell concluded.
