LIBERAL MEDIA HERALD POTENTIAL HOUSE
MAJORITY LEADER JOHN MURTHA BECAUSE
HE FILLS THEIR CUT-AND-RUN PRESCRIPTION FOR IRAQ

Alexandria, VA–For the last year, the liberal networks have given non-stop laudatory coverage to Congressman John Murtha because of his outspoken opposition to the Iraq war, as a Media Reality Check, released today by the Media Research Center, documents. Now, as Murtha challenges Congressman Steny Hoyer for the House Majority seat, it is clear he is using the media-backing of the past year and current fawning coverage to help him win the powerful House position.
s
In reaction to the liberal media’s bias that tips in favor to Congressman John Murtha, Media Research Center President Brent Bozell issued the following statement:

“The liberal media have been pushing a defeatist agenda in the Iraq war since almost the beginning and Congressman John Murtha is their poster boy for retreat, withdrawal, surrender, as our new report documents. Since Murtha called for withdrawal in November 2005, the networks have given him countless opportunities to spread his views – witness Monday’s fawning interview of Murtha by CBS’s Katie Couric.

“The networks favor Murtha and have given him extensive, drooling coverage because his cut-and-run prescription for Iraq is what they favor. If Murtha wins the House Majority Leader job on Thursday, he should thank the liberal media for their ever-ardent support.”
