It's The Media Stupid
ABC’s David Wright suggests Obama is driving the narrative, when it is Wright and the liberal press themselves doing the driving for Obama

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Last night in an interview with Sen. John McCain on ABC's World News, reporter David Wright said “You've been touring here in the states, had the domestic stage all to yourself. And yet, we're talking an awful lot about foreign policy. It seems like the narrative of this campaign is being driven by whatever Senator Obama does and that you're left to kind of react to that.”

Wrong.  Sen. McCain's "had the domestic stage all to (him)self" this week because Wright’s colleague Charlie Gibson, NBC’s Brian Williams and CBS’ Katie Couric all left the country to provide unprecedented and shimmering coverage of Sen. Barack Obama’s trip through the Middle East and Europe, and thereby ensure that “the narrative of this campaign is being driven by whatever Senator Obama does.

The liberal media’s disconnect from their Sen. Obama obsession is ubiquitous.  On Monday, CBS Early Show’s Harry Smith asked Sen. McCain “You know, when you have the network anchors chasing your opponent across the Middle East, it’s a little hard to make news.  What is your strategy to get folks to pay attention to your message over the next couple of days?”

Here’s a thought: perhaps the media could decide to pay a little attention to Sen. McCain’s message.  According to the Union Leader, the press awaiting Sen. McCain’s landing in New Hampshire for several campaign stops over the weekend consisted of a single still photographer.

MRC President L. Brent Bozell:

“To say that Sen. Obama is driving the narrative is disingenuous.  He is but a passenger aboard the Obama Paparazzi Express.

“The liberal media are so infatuated that it has caused them to become totally disconnected from reality.  They are obsessed with Sen. Obama.  Day after day and night after night they deliver endless streams of nauseatingly positive stories.  They gallivant around the globe in lusty pursuit to continue uninterrupted their on-air fawning.  And then they pause to wonder why his opponent can’t make news.”
