Network Morning News Shows Censoring Swift Boat Spokesman
Only One Network Morning News Interview with a Swift Boat Veteran for Truth since the Campaign Launch on May 4, 2004
ALEXANDRIA, Va. --- At a Washington D.C. press conference held on May 4, 2004, the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth revealed their concerns regarding Senator Kerry’s Vietnam service. It took until today --over 100 days later-- for any network morning news program to interview in studio a single one of the Swift Boat Vets for Truth.
“The swift boat story has evolved into one of the biggest political stories of the year, and the fact that the network morning shows have deliberately censored these vets is outrageous,” said MRC President Brent Bozell. “The reality that it took the network morning news programs 100 days to put a member of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth on the air is not only bad journalism, but pure liberal bias.”
And the August
24th interview conducted by Harry Smith of CBS’s Early Show with Swift Boat Vet John O’Neill was anything but fair and balanced. Instead Smith repeatedly berated, interrupted and attacked O’Neill’s claims on air.
“Not only are the liberal media undeniably hostile to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, they are uninterested in probing Kerry’s Vietnam record for themselves,” said Brent Bozell. “The networks are proving their liberal bias by deliberately refusing to cover the news if it doesn’t fit their agenda.”
Brent Bozell’s new book, WEAPONS OF MASS DISTORTION: The Coming Meltdown of the Liberal
Media, provides more than six hundred direct quotes and sixty scientific studies proving how America’s most influential news personalities and outlets continue to infuse their coverage with a liberal slant. He breaks down the big hot button issues that will affect this presidential election and describes how the liberal media present one-sided coverage on issues such as abortion, taxes, the environment, gay rights, and gun control.
